[Rated 4.5 stars] Our stay at the Banyan Tree KL was a last moment swap with another luxury Accor property at the Damansara area, who showed real apathy in hosting us. But this was easily one of the best such decisions I've made. We booked for a Banyan Retreat room, of which only one was available. In any case, the hotel had an inventory of just 55 rooms and suites and so room types could easily get fully booked well in advance. As we were celebrating the 10th birthday of our twins, I decided to get in touch with their new GM. After a bit of a struggle I managed to get in touch with Emile Otte, who replied as a matter of fact on their low inventory and how difficult it was to even do an early check-in, leave aside securing an upgrade. What he did confirm was as a Accor Gold we're eligible for an upgrade and that Accor Plus discounts were available at all the hotel's restaurants. But our expectations were low. We landed at the KL International Airport at around 7 AM and was at Banyan Tree's ground floor lobby at about 8:30 AM. We kept it as a surprise for the kids and as the lift whisked us away to their 53rd floor check-in lobby every one was mesmerised. They welcome you with cold towels, a nice refreshing floral drink and their signature golden egg cookies. As we enjoyed the views and relaxed after a red-eye flight, our check-in process was quietly getting done at the background. Yes, we got an early check-in, were upgraded to a room at their highest 56th floor (Room no 5620), the room even had complimentary birthday decorations and an extra roll-away bed. Even at that early hour, Emile stopped by to say Hello and in general welcomed us which was an excellent gesture and true reflection of Banyan Tree's personalised care promise. I think we got upgraded to a Signature Sky Retreat room (#5620) and the views from the living area windows were just stunning. The KL Tower and the Merdeka 118 were right in front of us, the latter gleaming in the early morning sun. The Twin Tower was also visible if we tried to push ourselves against the glass but of course better visible from the bathroom. All their rooms had similar designs, bit longish in size with the width almost equally divided into the bedroom and sitting area on one side while the shower, basin, closet and toilet were on the other. On entering, there was the luggage rack, minibar and the Nespresso machine. The working desk was behind a leafy wooden screen, whose space was bit compromised because of the extra bed being placed there. The king bed had the happy birthday banner while there were balloons everywhere. Next to the bed was an L-shaped sofa cum daybed. The coffee table next to it had our welcome amenities which was a fruits basket plus a small cake and a note from the GM. The TV in the room also had our name displayed. However, the bathroom was the real stunner. It had double vanity and an extra dressing mirror, an oval bathtub on the left (overlooking the city) and a rain shower with in-built chromotherapy! The closet was on the other side and behind it was the toilet room with a Toto smart toilet and wash basin. This area was also accessible via a separate door from near the minibar area. The room was well-stocked with all kinds of amenities, including hard to find ones, while shampoo, conditioner, etc came in large containers. The hotel was connected to the Pavilion Mall by a sky walk which in turn was connected to the KLCC via covered air-conditioned sky way and walkways. We wanted to have our lunch at their Altitude restaurant that served a unique fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavours. The restaurant was advertised to be open until 2:30 PM for lunch and so to our surprise when we requested for reservations at 2 PM, the front-office staff showed strange reluctance. This was odd for a luxury hotel and we did feel during our short stay that the staff in the hotel and especially some in the front office could have been better trained at guest relations. Anyhow, they later confirmed over Whatsapp that we were all set for 2 PM. We almost ran back from the Aquarium at KLCC so as not to miss our lunch. As it turned out we were the only ones doing lunch at that hour. Both me and my wife wanted to go for the set lunch: the Nikkei Gozen and the Seafood Gozen but our host informed that there were no AccorPlus benefits on set lunch. Now this was news for us because Emile didn't mention any such thing over email. But given our host was adamant and I couldn't get in touch with Emile and the fact that our lunch was getting delayed we decided to go for it with discount or not. However, we do need to give credit where it was due and the food was indeed excellent with very nice balance of flavours and I could see the Peruvian influences too. The overall service could have been better though beyond the standard "how's the food" queries. The breakfast was served at their Horizon Grill restaurant located on the 58th floor. While the buffet options were minimal they had a good a-la-carte menu, spanning several options, from which we extensively ordered. As the food was prepared fresh this was much better than the usual breakfast buffets. Even here, service could have been a bit more friendly. It seemed Prosecco was offered during breakfast but strangely it was not advertised and so I was a little hesitant to ask for it. As for the housekeeping, we hardly availed for it (as we were mostly out) and so couldn't comment on it. The turn down was standard with Banyan Tree's signature aromatherapy oils and sticks burning as we entered late in the evening. We checked out almost immediately post the breakfast to catch an early check-in at our next hotel. Had we known beforehand that this requested early check-in would be a mess we would have delayed our departure from Banyan Tree. Their systems had a little issue in authenticating my card at check-out while we were served our pre-departure drinks. In summary, this was almost a flawless stay except for the small hiccups in service, which was rather surprising for a hotel that was otherwise so perfect in every sense.

Excellent facilities and very attentive service from all staff. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back again!! Very convenient location with a direct access to Pavilion mall. Wife went for a massage and her feedback was very positive!!

Comfortable with clean space. The staffs are all friendly and kind. Will plan to go again. I went with my husband for anniversary and they did a simple deco for me. Much appreciated. Mind off from work and much relax staying. Is a wonderful stay for me and my husband

The most gorgeous hotel! Staff are lovely and the service was of a very high standard. We loved the bath in the room and wished we were staying longer ! Also highly recommend the Altitude restaurant in the hotel. The next time we are in a city with Banyan Tree we will be booking !
